KADUNA- Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have raided a settlement in Gongoro, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, arresting two suspected herders and recovering a motorcycle following an attack on a military checkpoint.

The operation, which took place at about 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, was carried out by troops of Sector 6, OPEP, in collaboration with a Department of State Security Force (DSOF) team, EIB Stratoc, other security operatives and local vigilantes.

According to information obtained from security and intelligence sources by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the raid was launched in response to an attack on troops manning the Angwan Boka military checkpoint on October 31, 2026. The attackers reportedly fled the scene with some military weapons following the incident, prompting a coordinated security operation to track down the fleeing suspects, recover the missing weapons and prevent further attacks in the area.

During the operation, security personnel stormed the suspected hideout in Gongoro, where two suspected herders were apprehended. A motorcycle was also recovered during the raid.

The arrested suspects have reportedly been taken into military custody for further investigation, while security operatives continue efforts to establish their possible involvement in the checkpoint attack and identify other individuals connected to the incident.

Meanwhile, troops have intensified security operations across the area, with sustained patrols and intelligence-driven efforts aimed at tracking down the fleeing assailants, recovering the missing military weapons and preventing further security breaches.

The operation underscores the continued efforts of Operation ENDURING PEACE and other security stakeholders to sustain pressure on criminal elements and restore lasting peace in communities across the operational area. Source: Zagazola Makama
