TINUBU VISITS AKWA IBOM TODAY, TO COMMISSION MAJOR PROJECTS, ATTEND APC RALLY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to visit Akwa Ibom State today, Friday, November 6, 2026, as part of a two-state official engagement that will also take him to Rivers State.

During the visit to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, President Tinubu is scheduled to commission several landmark infrastructure projects executed by Governor Umo Eno's administration, before attending a political rally organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a statement issued by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday, November 5, the projects scheduled for commissioning include the newly constructed International Terminal Building, International Airport Hospital and Ibom Aviation Village, all located at Victor Attah International Airport.

Other projects on the presidential commissioning schedule include the Airport-Okopedi Road, which connects communities in Nsit Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas, as well as Ring Road 3, linking Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom.

The President is also expected to inaugurate the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the Command and Control Centre and the ARISE Palm Resort.

In preparation for the presidential visit, Governor Umo Eno has declared Friday, November 6, a work-free day across the state to enable residents, particularly civil servants, to participate in the reception of the President.

The governor has also called on the people of Akwa Ibom to turn out in large numbers to welcome the President, describing the visit as an important opportunity to showcase the achievements of his administration.

Meanwhile, security arrangements have been strengthened across Uyo ahead of the presidential engagement. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced restrictions on drone operations, fireworks and other explosive sound-producing devices during the visit.

The police also announced temporary traffic restrictions along selected routes to ensure the smooth movement of the presidential convoy and maintain public order. Following his engagements in Akwa Ibom, President Tinubu is scheduled to proceed to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday, November 7, to participate in an APC political rally.

The Rivers rally will be his third major campaign appearance since the ruling party commenced activities towards his 2027 re-election bid with a campaign flag-off in Kaduna last month.

The two-state visit is considered politically significant as the APC intensifies its mobilisation and engagement with political stakeholders, party leaders and supporters across the South-South region ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The presidential engagements are also expected to provide an opportunity for discussions on infrastructure development, political stability, party unity and cooperation between the Federal Government and state governments.
