SOKOTO — The management of Gamji College of Health Technology, Sokoto, has dismissed as false reports that 18 of its students were kidnapped by suspected terrorists while travelling to Oyo State. The institution, in a public clarification signed by its Registrar, Bello Abdulrahman, described the report published by Sahara Reporters on October 5, 2026, as misleading and inconsistent with the actual situation. The report had alleged that 18 students of the college were abducted while travelling to Oyo State, with the driver of their vehicle reportedly killed in the incident. However, the college management categorically denied the claim, stressing that none of its students had been kidnapped. According to the management, all students of the institution are safe and currently at their respective destinations, continuing with their academic and professional programmes as scheduled. The college urged parents, guardians, stakeholders and members of the public to disregard the report and refrain from sharing what it described as false information capable of creating unnecessary panic. The management further reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, stating that the institution would continue to collaborate with relevant security agencies to ensure a secure environment for teaching, learning and professional training. It also advised members of the public to rely on the college's official communication channels for accurate and timely information concerning its students and activities.
